Bit of Balm for the Broken

A few choice verses for those who maybe suffering through loss or from a shattered heart:

“The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart; and saves those who have a crushed spirit.” Psalm 34:18

You put my tears into Your bottle;
You record my aches in Your book.
When I cry out to You…
This I know, God is for me.” Psalm 56:8-9

“He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3

“He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,…to set at liberty them that are bruised,” said Jesus. Luke 4:18

“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, … to comfort all that mourn.” Isaiah 61:2

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.” Psalm 51:17

    Someone … wish I could remember who … said that if you preach to broken hearts, you will never lack an audience.

    Even God, Himself, is not exempt.

    Especially thinking of Christ on the cross, when it says, “Reproach has broken my heart” I think in Psalm 69. Sandy McEachren preached a good preach on that “a broken heart, who can bear it” and then showed how the Lord had a broken heart on the cross. It was a great and memorable one.
